The local police in Ujjain have been baffled at the unique case of Ujjain’s very own ‘Bunty Aur Babli’, who were caught on CCTV stealing batteries from various vehicles parked at different locations.
The city of Ujjain has been hit with a spate of thefts in recent days, leaving residents on edge and wary of leaving their vehicles unattended. But the latest string of thefts has left everyone scratching their heads – instead of stealing jewelry or valuable items, the culprits have been swiping batteries from parked motorcycles.
The brazen thefts are happening in broad daylight on the main roads of the city, with young men and women on bikes swooping in to steal two-wheeler batteries within a matter of minutes.
But the police are hot on their heels, thanks to CCTV footage that captured two of the thieves in action. In one incident, a young man gets close to a bike and quickly removes the battery from a parked motorcycle. Meanwhile, a young woman keeps watch and holds a bag, ready to collect the stolen battery as soon as it is removed.
It’s a scene straight out of a heist movie, and yet the stolen goods have a resale value of just Rs. 200 in the battery market!

The man would ride up on his bike, quickly remove the battery from a parked motorcycle, while his partner-in-crime would keep watch and hold a bag ready to collect the stolen goods. It was a seamless operation that took just seconds, leaving the victims bewildered and the police baffled.

Police In-Charge Puzzled at the Shocking Thefts
Madhav Nagar police station in-charge, Manish Lodha, had seen it all in his time on the force, but this case was unlike any other. While both the accused appear on the CCTV to be from a relatively privileged
background, another fact of this operation has baffled the authorities. The motorcycle battery thefts may just not be enough for the couple’s wallets to get thicker. These batteries are sold at a shocking sum of merely Rs 200, when resold.
The cops have confirmed that they have traced the bike driven by the accused based on the registration plate, and they will soon be taken into custody.

Pune Couple Steals Vehicles to Pay Off Home Loans
It should be noted that an eerily shocking incident was reported from Pune recently. In Pune, another couple decided to go on their own crime-spree. However, unlike the Ujjain-based miscreants, who shave been caught stealing bike batteries, the Pune couple stole a series of vehicles. After arrest, it was revealed that the couple wanted to pay off their home loan and had been living together after divorcing their respective partners.
