Bengaluru Influencer Shares Horrific Story of Thieves Trying to Snatch Mobile While She Shot Content

A Bengaluru-based influencer recently shared a horrific ordeal where unidentified miscreants tried to snatch her mobile phone while she was shooting content on her phone. The incident came to the fore thanks to a public-service tweet from the handle of Bangalore 360. The tweet mentioned the food blogger named Ruchika, who somehow thwarted the phone snatching incident.

Giving an elaborate account of the incident, Ruchika wrote, “Hey everyone, yesterday while filming for a restaurant, something quite dangerous happened and I wanted to share this with you all.” “As we are content creators and we were regular shooting content for the restaurant when these two boys approached and tried to snatch my phone from my hand , luckily I pulled my phone down at that point, preventing him from snatching it,” the tweet further read.

Many Twitter users expressed their concerns on the rising crime in Bengaluru. A Twitter user went on to share a similar ordeal they faced. “The same thing happened to me the day before in Koramangala 1st block at 8.30 PM and it was an auto number ending with 9057 who was following me and tried to snatch my phone but he couldn’t. it’s the road I walk back to my home daily, now I’m really scared,” the Twitter user wrote.

The Facts of the Matter

Phone snatching has become a serious menace in India in recent years. The rise of smartphone usage in India has made it a lucrative target for thieves as they can sell stolen phones for a high price in the black market.

The victims of such crimes not only suffer from financial loss, but also stand to lose important data and sensitive information stored on their phones. In Bengaluru, a food blogger recently became the victim of one such phone snatching incident. While the snatchers could not take away the phone, the video of the incident has sparked outrage among netizens.

What Does the Video Show?

The video shows two women talking in front of a camera as they create content for social media. As the women talk chirpily in front of the camera, it pans and captures a motorcyclist veering dangerously close to the road sidewalk and extending his arm in a bid to snatch the phone away. The person holding the phone somehow managed to pull the phone down at the right moment, thwarting the snatching attempt.

A Twitter account explained the situation, quoting the woman blogger who suffered the ordeal.
