Out of Control Speeding Truck Crushes 2 Women to Death

A disturbing video has surfaced on social media which shows an out-of-control speeding truck crushing at least 2 women to death in Seoni, Madhya Pradesh. According to reports, at least 3 people have been reported injured in the aftermath of the accident. The accident took place earlier on Saturday, and it’s CCTV footage surfaced on social media earlier on Sunday.

The tragic accident occurred at approximately 9 pm on Saturday near Kurai along the Jabalpur-Nagpur highway, 35 km away from the district’s headquarters, according to authorities. The incident involved a truck that reportedly collided with a 70-year-old local woman and another 32-year-old woman who was on a motorcycle with her husband. Both women lost their lives in the accident after being fatally injured.

The Kurai police station in-charge, Madanlal Maravi, confirmed that the husband of the pedestrian woman, who is 72 years old, was also injured in the collision. Furthermore, the woman who was on the motorbike had her five-year-old daughter with her at the time, and she too was injured in the accident.

The injured have since been transferred to a hospital in Nagpur, located in the neighbouring state of Maharashtra, for further medical treatment. The truck driver was taken into custody, and authorities have seized the vehicle.

While India has the second largest network of roads in the world, the lack of precaution and reckless driving continues to be cause of terrible tragedies on the road.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, there were 4,49,002 road accidents in the country in 2019, which resulted in the deaths of 1,51,113 people and injured another 4,51,361. The majority of these accidents were caused by overspeeding, followed by driver fatigue and drunk driving.

The Facts of the Matter

In Madhya Pradesh’s Seoni, two women lost their lives in a tragic accident on Saturday night at around 9 pm when an uncontrollable speeding truck created havoc on the road.

The out-of-control speeding struck an elderly couple as they crossed the Jabalpur-Nagpur National Highway near the Community Health Center police station in Kurai, located 35 km away from the district headquarters.

The truck was reportedly traveling from Seoni towards Nagpur and overtook another couple and a five-year-old girl who were riding a bike near the divider. The truck then hit the elderly couple who were walking on the road.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV camera installed on the highway, revealing the heart-wrenching nature of the tragedy.

What Does the CCTV Footage Show?

The CCTV footage surfaced on Twitter shows an elderly couple crossing the otherwise empty highway, walking hands in hand. Meanwhile, one can also see two more people on a motorcycle, that have parked their vehicle on the left side of the road. Out of nowhere, the speeding truck surfaces, and first mows over the elderly couple, throwing them on the other side of the road, and then colliding with the two people who were with the motorcycle.

Deceased Includes 70-year-old Woman, Mother of 5-Year-Old

The deceased in the matter was identified as 70-year-old Mainabai Banshkar, who was crossing the road with her husband. Meanwhile, her husband, Dhabbu Banshkar (72), sustained severe injuries.

The accident also claimed the life of 30-year-old Chandni Jaiswal who was riding a bike with her husband and five-year-old daughter. The little girl has been critically injured, while the husband has sustained minor injuries.

The two seriously injured victims have been referred to Nagpur for further medical treatment. This unfortunate incident has left the local community in mourning.
