Indore Couple Opens ‘Doggy Dhaba’

A couple in Indore has been making headlines by opening ‘Doggy Dhaba’, an establishment that offers boarding and food to dogs. The price ranges from Rs 7 to Rs 500 per day, and the establishment has been opened by Indore-based couple Balraj Jhala and his wife. The couple offers a variety of dog food with prices ranging from ₹ 7 to ₹ 500 per day, including basic meals, veg and non-veg specialties and supplements.

The couple also offers customised cakes for dogs’ birthdays and boarding services, making it a one-stop-shop for all a pet owner’s needs. They ensure that dogs staying at their facility are well taken care of, with plenty of opportunities for exercise, play, and socialization.

Balraj Jhala came up with the idea of opening the restaurant during the Covid-induced lockdown when he realized that even dogs were struggling to find food. He used to feed the dogs he encountered on his way back home at night while working in a hotel until 2019. The dhaba also offers food delivery parcels for pets.

Mr Jhala revealed that his business operates online, and they have dog food delivery boys who supply food twice a day. The couple’s unique gestures for four-legged friends have been garnering attention and applaud by netizens.

While more and more cafes are accepting patrons who want to enjoy some relaxing time with their pet dogs, cafes catering specially to dogs may sound like an idea from a parallel universe. However, such cafes are a great opportunity for pet dogs to indulge in some dog-friendly dishes and treats, as well as special play areas created for them.

One such establishment has opened in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore and the establishment has been aptly named ‘Doggy Dhaba’.

Meet Indore Couple who Opened ‘Doggy Dhaba’

Doggy Dhaba, opened by Balraj Jhala and his wife, offers a range of food, boarding services, and even birthday celebrations for dogs. The idea for the dhaba came to Balraj during the Covid-19 lockdown when he noticed that even dogs were struggling to find food.

How Did the Idea for ‘Doggy Dhaba’ Come About?

As a passionate dog lover, he used to feed the dogs he encountered on his way back home from his previous job at a hotel. However, when human food became scarce during the pandemic, he saw the need for quality dog food in the city.

“I have been a dog lover since the beginning. I used to work in a hotel till the year 2019, from where I fed the dogs on the way back home at night,” Mr Jhala was quoted in a Tribune India report.

This led to the idea of Doggy Dhaba, which opened in 2020. The dhaba offers a range of dog food, from basic meals to veg and non-veg specialties and supplements, with prices ranging from Rs 7 to Rs 500 per day.

The restaurant also makes customised cakes for dogs’ birthdays, allowing them to celebrate their special day in style. The dhaba operates online and has delivery boys who supply food to dogs twice a day.
