Mumbai Food Delivery Man Arrested for Allegedly Sexually Assaulting a Stray Dog in Powai Mall
Amid all the menace against stray dogs in India, a man in Mumbai was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a stray dog in a Powai-based mall, Mid-Day reported. The 28-year-old alleged accused was arrested earlier on Saturday based on a complaint filed by Minu Sheth, an animal activist and part of Bombay Animal Rights NGO. The complaint was filed based on a video Sheth received which showed the accused raping the stray dog.
As per reports, the 6-month-old was living around the premises of Hira Panna Mall’s balcony and was taken care of by the staff of a bar and restaurant. Earlier on October 29, Sheth received a video by Vijay Mohanni, the president of the NGO she was part of, showing the heinous act. Based on the video received, and as per NGO President’s direction, Sheth filed a complaint.
Reportedly, the 28-year-old accused had been sexually assaulting the dog repeteadly for days. Shockingly enough, a food delivery boy saw him in the act, and captured him in the video and sent the same to the people known to him, which somehow reached the president of NGO.
Based on the complaint, the accused was arrested under IPC’s Section 377 (unnatural offences), and prevention of cruelty animal act, 1960.
The Facts of the Matter
In an incident enough to make one lose faith in humanity, a 28-year-old man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a stray dog in a mall located in the Powai suburb. The 28-year-old accused man works as a food delivery agent and repeatedly committed the heinous attempts for days before being arrested.

How the Incident Came to Fore?
The matter came to the fore after Minu Sheth, an animal activist from Mumbai received a video of the accused caught in act. Sheth, part of an NGO called Bombay Animal Rights, received the video from NGO’s president Vijay Mohanni, who asked her to file a complaint in the matter.
Based on the video, Minu took to the police station and filed a complaint regarding the matter. During the investigation, it was revealed that the 6-month dog was taken care of by a bar and restaurant located in the second floor of the Heera Panna mall.

Food Delivery Agent Saw Accused Committing Crime
As per a Mid-Day report, another food delivery agent saw the accused committing the heinous crime, and took video of the same. He then shared the video to the people he knew, and the same reached to Vijay Mohanni, president of the NGO.
Accused Arrested
Following the complaint being filed, the accused was booked under multiple sections of IPC, including section 377 (unnatural offences), and the prevention of cruelty of animals act, 1960. He was produced before the Bandra court and was remanded in police custody.

A Mid-Day report quoted Vijay Mohanni, president of Bombay Animal Rights NGO saying, “The dog has been medically examined and has swelling in her private parts. She has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. She is very scared; I have a request to Mumbaikars to help her. Not with treatment expenses, but by adopting her”.
