Angry Over Scooter Being Towed, Mumbai Lawyer Tries to Run Over Female Traffic Cop

Angry over his scooter being towed, a Mumbai-based lawyer tried to run over a female traffic cop and was arrested later for the same. Video of the same incident shows the man first trying to flee away with his confiscated scooter and then running over the female traffic cop. The incident occurred earlier on Monday and was reported from Mumbai’s Nalasopara.

The accused in the matter is identified as 35-year-old Brajesh Behlloriya while the traffic cop who was on the receiving end of the attack was identified as constable Pragya Dalvi. After the video of the incident went viral, Brajesh was booked under charge of attempt to murder

According to reports, Brajesh’s scooter was parked in a ‘no-parking’ zone and hence was towed away and brought to the Paatankar Park impound. Brajesh and his wife soon reached the place to take their impounded scooter away.

In the video gone viral, Brajesh can be seen speeding away with the scooter as people try to stop him. As he reached the gate of the park, he runs into traffic cop Pragya, who despite being run over, tried to hold on to the scooter.

In the video, Brajesh can also be heard alleging that he has video of the cop demanding money for the scooter’s release.

The Facts of the Matter

A Mumbai-based man was charged with attempt to murder after he tried to run over a traffic cop with his confiscated scooter. The accused man was identified as 35-year-old Brajesh Behlloriya. His wife, Dolly, was also booked by the police for accompanying him during the incident. The events were reported earlier on Monday in Mumbai’s Nalasopara suburb.

What Does the Video Show?

Video of the incident shows Brajesh trying to take away his impounded scooter after having a heated argument with the police. Constable Pragya had scooter get towed away as it was parked in a ‘no parking zone’.

Constable Pragya is seen trying to shut down the gate of the park where the impounded vehicles are kept. However, Brajesh, who was rashly driving the scooter, crashed into the gate and further ran over the constable in process.

Constable Pragya Dalvi somehow managed to hold on to the scooter as other cops and bystanders manage to overpower Brajesh and help the injured cop.

Lawyer Claims Female Cop Demanded Money

Constable Pragya, who sustained a fracture, filed a complaint against both Brajesh and his wife Dolly, a TOI report stated. Meanwhile, Brajesh, a lawyer by profession, alleged that the constable was targeting him as he had earlier refused to pay her money for a traffic violation. In the video gone viral, Brajesh can be heard alleging that he has video of the cop demanding money from him.

Accused Booked, Sent to Judicial Custody

Following the incident, a case was registered against Brajesh under multiple sections of IPC, including section 307 (attempt to murder), section 353 (criminal force to deter public servant), section 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), and section 34 (common intention).

The accused were presented before the magistrate, and were then sent to judicial custody.
