Epitomizing the real power of internet and connectivity, a village in Chhattisgarh has become a YouTube hub where locals share as many as 40 channels amongst themselves and create content for living. The development was first brought to the fore by news agency ANI who took to Twitter and shared pictures of locals of Tulsi village in the process of creating videos for their YouTube channels.

Like any craze, the YouTuber culture was started by two friends with a dream and an internet connection. These two friends are Gyanendra Shukla and Jai Verma. Hailing from the village, Shukla was an SBI employee while his friend was a teacher. After getting involved in content creation, the two decided to quit the job and pursue their new YouTube career.

Speaking more about how the two friends started with acting in YouTube videos, Gyanendra mentioned that their fear of camera and performing went away thanks to Ramlila performance. “We got to learn a lot from Ramlila. The stage fear went away after that. There are about 3,000 people in the village. Out of which 40 per cent of people are connected to YouTube,” Shukla said.

Jai Verma, a local YouTuber said that he earns Rs 30,000 per month from earning Rs 15,000 earlier.

Village Local Left SBI Job to Create Content

A Times Now report quoted Gyanendra Shukla saying, “I worked in SBI earlier, as a network engineer. My office had high-speed internet and I used to watch YouTube videos there. I was already fond of movies. In 2011-12, a new version of YouTube was launched. At that time, there were very few channels on youtube. I was not satisfied with my 9 to 5 job. So I left the job and started with YouTube. Till now, we have made about 250 videos and have 1.15 lakh subscribers.”

How Ramlila Helped with Stage Fear?
