Priyanka Chopra’s ‘Sona Home’ Trolled for ‘Ridiculous’ Prices; Rs 36k for Table Cloth, Rs 7k for Bread Baskets
Recently, Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra’s new houseware brand ‘Sona Home’ was trolled for its ‘ridiculous’ prices on the internet. With Rs. 36,000 for ‘table cloth’ and Rs 7,000 for a bread basket, the brand is clearly not afraid to appeal only to the rich, elite and privileged. However, the brand certainly gave netizens on social media trolling worthy fodder and boy the internet had a day with it.
Earlier, Priyanka and her friend slash business partner Maneesh Goyal launched their second venture together after Sona the restaurant. Along with Goyal, she recently launched a 45-piece houseware collection, which includes, bar accessories, dinner linens, and more.
In a Vogue report, she was quoted saying, “We both love hosting. It’s a very Indian thing. Our tables only get larger with more people,” she says. “Growing up, we were always around cousins, family, and friends in a cacophony of laughter and food.”
Introducing her brand to netizens on Instagram, Priyanka wrote, “I’ve always been a very intentional person with everything that I do, and so when launching SONA Home, @maneeshkgoyal and I wanted to bring our love of our joint heritage coupled with a penchant for entertaining friends and family at home, to create a brand that I am insanely proud of.”

While Priyanka’s followers and fans congratulated her for the new venture, netizens on Reddit were flabbergasted once they saw the ‘ridiculous’ price of the products sold. Before we tell you all about the way netizens reacted, let us give you some idea as to what Sona Home’s products are all about.
The brand sells dinnerware, which includes various kinds of plates, chutney pots, table linens, bar accessories, and more. A “Panna bread basket” set of two is being sold for Rs. 7,500 ($95). Meanwhile, a “Panna round tablecloth” is being sold for just above Rs. 31,000 ($398).

“If anyone pays $400 for a tablecloth, they deserve that level of highway robbery IMO,” one Reddit user wrote.
Another Reddit user called out the collection’s quality and aesthetic commenting, “I’m sorry but this collection looks like it was designed for a retirement home. The colors and style are so antiquated.” “Forget the prices, maybe the cloths will look good in a designer home but to a commoner the cloths look v v shaby,” noted another Reddit user.
“All the items except the lamp are available under 10 Dirhams here in the UAE it’s all ridiculously overpriced,” another Reddit user commented.
