IshqVishk Actor Shehnaz Treasury Diagnosed with Prosopagnosia, Brad Pitt Also Claims Suffering from Same
Recently, IshqVishk actor Shehnaz Treasury confirmed being diagnosed with Prosopagnosia, a disorder that Hollywood actor Brad Pitt also claims to be suffering from. In a series of Instagram stories, the actor confirmed being diagnosed with the disorder, and coming to terms with the reason why she had issues recognizing faces, voices of those she may have known for a while.
In her stories, the actor claimed that she has been called “aloof” and “snobbish” because of being unable to recognize and identify people. She appealed to people to be kind to each other and added that the disorder is indeed a “real brain issue”.
According to National Health Service (NHS), Prosopagnosia, also called face blindness, is a cognitive disorder, where people diagnosed fail to recognize and identity faces of other people. It is a disorder that affects survivors from their birth and continues to be a problem
Prosopagnosia, also known as face blindness, means you cannot recognize people’s faces. The disorder continues to affect the survivors for most or all of their lives and can have severe impact on their day-to-day functioning.
Earlier, Hollywood actor Brad Pitt gave an interview to GQ Magazine also claimed that he may be suffering from a condition that prevents from recognizing faces. The actor claimed that his condition leaves him worried of creating a ‘negative impression’.
The Facts of the Matter
While all of us have had moments where we don’t recall or remember a person, there is a cognitive disorder, called Prosopagnosia which disables a person from remembering the faces and identity of people who they may be even close to.

Shehnaz Treasury Announces Being Diagnosed with Prosopagnosia
Recently, Bollywood actor turned Vlogger and influencer, Shehnaz Treasury took to Instagram and confirmed being diagnosed with Prosopagnosia. The actor shared a bunch of stories on the social media platform, explaining her condition, and appealing people to be kind to one another.

“Now I understand why…”
“I have been diagnosed with prosopagnosia. Now, I understand why I’ve never been able to put faces together. You have difficulty recognising neighbours, friends, coworkers, clients, schoolmates. People you know expect you to recognise them. Failing to recognise someone might make you seem aloof. Many sufferers report losing friends and offending coworkers because they have failed to recognise them. This is me. And I thought I was just dumb,” Shehnaz wrote.
“Always felt so ashamed”
She also wrote, “I’ve always felt so ashamed that I mix up people and can’t recognise faces of people — even close friends after a few years – I can’t recognize them. This is a real brain issue. Please be kind and understand.”

Using Hair as a Memory Cue
She also explained how many people suffering from face blindness use hair as a “memory cue”. “When someone gets a haircut, you may not recognize them when you see them again. Many people with face blindness use hair as a way to remember people. When a person’s hair changes, that memory cue is lost. So now please understand that this is a real disorder and not me being aloof or snobbish”, the 41-year-old actor turned influencer wrote.
Bradd Pitt May Suffer from Prosopagnosia Too
Recently in an interview to GQ Magazine, Oceans franchise actor Brad Pitt said although he is not diagnosed, he may be suffering from prosopagnosia. He mentioned how he struggles to remember faces of new people at parties, and even fears that it leads to him having an impression of being “aloof”, “inaccessible” and “self-absorbed”.
