Another Kashmiri Pandit Gunned Down in Kashmir, 36-Year-Old Female Hindu Teacher Shot Dead

In yet another concerning development reported from the valley of Kashmir, another Kashmiri Pandit was gunned down on Tuesday morning. The victim of the targeted killing was a 36-year-old female Hindu teacher who was shot down in Kulgam district.

The unidentified assailants fired at 36-year-old Rajni Bala, a Samba resident, who was posted as a teacher in the region. The terrorists opened fire at the targeted victim in the Gopalpora area, Kulgam where she was critically injured. Although the victim was rushed to the hospitals, she was declared dead on arrival.

Following the incident, the Kashmir Zone Police took to Twitter and wrote- ““#KulgamTerrorIncidentUpdate: Injured lady teacher, a #Hindu & resident of Samba (Jammu division) #succumbed to her injuries. #Terrorists involved in this #gruesome #terror crime will be soon identified &neutralised.@JmuKmrPolice.”

It should be noted that this is the seventh targeted killing in Kashmir only in the past month. Earlier this month, another Hindu, identified as Rahul Bhat, was gunned down by the terrorists inside his office. The victim was a government employee, acting as a clerk.

Similarly, another victim, Amreen Bhat, was gunned down by the terrorists in Budgam district earlier last week. Along with the 35-year-old victim, her 10-year-old nephew was also reported injured in the attack.

The Facts of the Matter

For years now, the scenic and heaven-like valley of Kashmir has been the epicenter of region and religion-based killings. Earlier on Tuesday, May 31, a teacher died after being fatally injured following being shot by unidentified terrorists in Kashmir’s Kulgam district. The female teacher was posted as a teacher, and has been identified as 36-year-old Rajni Bala.

Police Confirms Development

On 10:39 AM, the Kashmir Zone Police took to Twitter and confirmed that a woman teacher, who was posted at a high school in Gopalpora area in Kulgam was gunned down by the terrorists. The tweet also confirmed that the woman was critically injured and was rushed to the hospital with the location being cordoned off.

“Accused will be identified & neutralised”

Minutes later, another tweet, confirming the death of the Hindu teacher was shared by the Kashmir Zone Police. In its tweet, the police also assured that the terrorists accused of the heinous crime will be soon “identified & neutralised”.

Former CM Condoles Death of Kashmiri Pandit Teacher

Following the gruesome killing of the Hindu teacher, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took to Twitter and posted – “Rajni was from Samba District of Jammu province. A government teacher working in Kulgam area of South Kashmir, she lost her life in a despicable targeted attack. My heart goes out to her husband Raj Kumar & the rest of her family. Another home irreparably damaged by violence.”

Recent Attacks on Kashmiri Pandits in Valley

Earlier this month, terrorists killed another Kashmiri Pandit, Rahul Bhat, by barging into a government office in Budgam district. The attack on Bhat was the third such attack against Kashmiri Pandit in the valley in 2022.

The victim was a revenue department official and was rushed to the hospital after being attacked by the terrorists. The vicious attacks on Kashmiri Pandits have gained its pace on an alarming level. Earlier in October 2021, prominent Kashmiri Pandit M.L. Bindroo was slain in Srinagar, causing outrage and uproar.

IG Vijay Kumar Appeals Kashmiri Pandits to Not Leave Valley

Following his death, the government has assured Kashmiri Pandits in the valley to not leave their native place. Earlier this month, IG Vijay Kumar appealed to Kashmiri Pandits to not leave the valley. IG Vijay Kumar also promised that the authorities will work on the security shortcomings in the valley.
