Kanpur Minor Takes Out Car to Learn Driving, Kills 12-Year-Old Girl, Injures 5 Others After Hitting Rickshaw
In Kanpur, a teen who was behind the wheel while trying to learn driving, became an unwitting merchant of death, killing a 12-year-old girl, and injuring 5 other children, after he collided with an auto-rickshaw. The incident took place near Dolphin Crossing in Vishnupuri area, and occurred earlier on Monday. While the teen’s identity has not been reported, the car’s owner has been identified as Bharat.
Eyewitnesses recount the horrifying scene of the car, under the supervision of an adult passenger, hurtling towards the e-rickshaw with reckless abandon. The impact was brutal, with the children’s cries ringing out in the air, as they were rushed to the hospital with severe injuries.
Sadly, one of the students, a Class 6 girl, could not withstand the gravity of her injuries and succumbed to them. The deceased girl was identified as Kalpana. The driver of the car, who had caused this mayhem, was apprehended at the scene of the accident.
“The car was being driven by a minor who apparently lost control over the vehicle and it rammed into an e-rickshaw, causing injuries to its driver and five school children,” a TOI report quoted a police official saying. In December 2022, a man learning how to drive, ran over an SUV on 3 children, who were resting on a footpath.

Learning to drive is a rite of passage that many teenagers look forward to with great anticipation. The thrill of taking control of a vehicle and the freedom of the open road can be exhilarating.
However, as a tragic incident in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has shown, the process of learning to drive can have dire consequences if not approached with the utmost care and caution. What began as a seemingly innocuous lesson in driving quickly turned into a nightmare, with one student dead and several others injured.
Bright Kanpur Morning Turns Tragic
Earlier on the bright Monday morning in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a few school children were heading to their classes in an auto-rickshaw. But for some, that day ultimately ended in tragedy.
A minor, eager to learn the art of driving, took to the streets, under the watchful eye of an adult passenger, in a car belonging to a man named Bharat. However, things quickly took a turn for the worse. As the car hurtled down the road, its inexperienced driver lost control, smashing into an e-rickshaw carrying innocent children on their way to school.
Collision Wreaks Havoc, Teen Nabbed by Public
The collision was brutal, sending the e-rickshaw spinning out of control, its passengers screaming in terror. The force of the impact left the children injured, with one young student in Class 4, struggling to cling to life. The driver of the car, dazed and confused, was caught by the public, who had rushed to the scene of the accident, hoping to help the injured.

Class 6 Student Succumbs
Meanwhile, the driver, who had been excitedly learning to drive, suddenly found himself at the center of a tragedy. As the injured were rushed to the hospital, one student, Kalpana, a Class 6 student, was declared dead, unable to withstand the severity of her injuries.
While the teen was apprehended by the police, CCTV footage and other evidences are being analysed by the cops to initiate an appropriate action.
