Movie Style Robbery in UP-Meerut Thieves Dig Up 10-Feet Tunnel Through Drain to Rob Jewellery Shop

In a movie style robbery reported from Uttar Pradesh, thieves reportedly dug up a 10-feet tunnel through a drain to decamp a jewellery shop in Meerut.

In the dead of night, a group of daring thieves made their way to a jewellery shop in Meerut. As the city slept, the robbers got to work, digging a tunnel through a drain that ran beneath the shop. With shovels and pickaxes in hand, they worked tirelessly, tunneling deeper and deeper until they finally emerged inside the shop.

The robbers knew exactly what they were after, and they wasted no time in grabbing everything of value. Necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings – they took it all, stuffing their bags full of glittering treasure.

The shop owner was identified as Piyush Garg. As soon as he arrived at the shop the next morning, he knew something was wrong. The door was unlocked, and when he walked inside, he saw the devastation that had been wrought by the robbers.

Garg was not the only one who was outraged by the robbery. The news of the heist quickly spread through the city, and soon, other jewellers were joining him in protest. As per the store owner, he suffered a loss of at least Rs 10 lakhs.

The Facts of the Matter

Robbers who go to lengths to rob stores often display a remarkable level of tenacity and determination. These individuals are willing to take risks and put in a great deal of effort in order to rob people off their hard-earned cash and valuables. In one such incident, reported from Uttar Pradesh, thieves went as far as digging a 10 feet tunnel, to decamp a jewellery store.

Store Owner Suffers Loss of Rs 10 Lakhs

While it’s not clear as to the total value of the robbed valuables, the store owner said that he has suffered a loss of at least Rs 10 lakhs. The incident was reported from Meerut’s Nauchandi police station area.

In a heist that may remind readers of a pulpy 90s film, a group of unidentified miscreants robbed a jewellery store in the middle of the city, by digging a 10-feet long tunnel through a drain.

Thieves Dig Up 10-feet Tunnel Through Drain

The thieves reportedly committed the crime earlier on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, and the matter came to the fore when the store owner took to his shop the morning after.

As per a Times Now report, the thieves somehow managed to dig up a 10-feet deep tunnel through a drain. They first removed the bricks and other material from the drain’s boundary, and crawled through the tunnel to get inside the shop.

Traders Association Stages Protest

Meanwhile, the next day store owner Piyush Garg entered the store and witnessed the ghastly scene of his store decamped and valuables, including necklaces, and gold sovereigns missing. The news of Garg’s store being robbed spread like wildfire across Meerut.

In the aftermath, Meerut Bullion Traders Association members took to the store to extend support to Garg, and to stage a protest against the questionable law-and-order situation in their city. What makes the robbery all the more concerning, is that there have been at least three such robberies in the city.
