A Kolkata-based cop is earning praises online for creating a green corridor to help a crying student reach the exam centre on time. The cop in question was identified as Souvik Chakraborty, an OC Howrah Bridge Traffic Guard, and the cop’s heartwarming and timely gesture was brought to light thanks to a Facebook post shared by the Kolkata police.
According to reports, Inspector Chakraborty was patrolling the Strand Road near Raja Katra, he noticed a girl in school uniform crying and asking people for help. It transpired that the student was running late for her Madhyamik or Class 10 board exam, and her exam center was Adarsh Shiksha Niketan in Shyambazar. The girl’s family had gone to attend her grandfather’s funeral, and she was all alone and feeling helpless.
Touched by the girl’s plight, Inspector Chakraborty immediately sprang into action. He picked up the student in his official vehicle, ensured a green corridor by informing the Traffic Control Room, and rushed towards the exam center. The inspector’s reassuring words and actions helped the young girl remain calm during the drive to the center. They reached the exam center at 11:30 am, just as it was about to open its doors, much to the relief of the female student.

The girl was alone as her family had gone to attend the funeral of her grandfather who had just passed away, leaving her with no one to accompany her. In a state of panic and already running late for the exam, she was frantically searching for help.

Thanks to his timely intervention, they arrived at the Adarsh Shiksha Niketan in Shyambazar at precisely 11.30 a.m., just as the centre was about to open its doors. The grateful and relieved student could not have been happier, and the officer wished her the best of luck for her upcoming exam.
