Strange Video Shows Crocodile Carrying Body of 4-Year-Old Indonesian & Handing It to Rescuers

The unusual video of a crocodile carrying the body of a 4-year-old Indonesian boy and handing it to the rescuers safely has stunned netizens. Crocodiles, known for being ferocious when it comes to hunting and preying, have often targeted humans out of lack of other preys. However, in this instance, the crocodile did not attack the already drowned boy and instead, got him on the rescuer’s boat so the family could find closure.

The incident was reported from Jawa Estuary located on the east of the Borneo island in Indonesia’s east Kalimantan province. The hair-raising visuals of the incident shows the crocodile swimming swiftly through the water with a child’s body on top of it. The crocodile manages to catch up to a boat occupied by the rescue team. Meanwhile, a man bends down and pulls the little child in the safety of the boat.

The strange video going viral was recently reshared by IFS Susanta Das who wrote, “Strange but true…A huge crocodile appears with the body of a drowned child on its back & hands it over. The family had failed to find it from the crocodile infested river in Indonesia. VC:Gulf Today.”

The boy was identified as Muhammad Ziyad Wijaya. He had gone missing for two days and initial investigation confirmed that there were no bite marks over him.

The Facts of the Matter

Rescuers hunting a missing person in crocodile infested waters are often met with the grim sight of the missing person’s mutilated body, or have to go back empty handed considering the worst.

However, in a strange development, a rescue team in Indonesia were recently handed over the drowned body of a 4-year-old boy who died by drowning in a crocodile-infested water body. What makes the discovery super strange, is that they were handed over the dead body by a crocodile itself.

The rescuers were reportedly looking for a 4-year-old boy who had gone missing from Jawa Estuary located on the east of the Borneo island in east Kalimantan province, Indonesia. The rescuers knew that they were fighting a lost battle, as the water in the area was known to be infested with dangerous crocodiles.

However, to their amazement, a crocodile ended up handing the rescue team the 4-year-old boy’s body with the visual of the incident going viral on social media.

What Does the Video Show

In the video gaining widespread attention, a crocodile can be seen carrying a toddler’s body on its back almost a mile away from where he was reported to have drowned. The crocodile approaches the rescuers on a boat and a rescuer bends down to retrieve the youngling’s drowned body. After safely handing over the body, the crocodile retreated back in the water.

While it can’t be confirmed, some netizens have speculated that the animal delivered the boy out of instinct and compassion.

Netizens React to Crocodile Handing Boy to Rescuers

The deceased boy was identified as Muhammad Ziyad Wijaya who had gone missing two days before being found. After alert was raised about the boy’s disappearance, the Members of the East Kalimantan Basarnas Search and Rescue Agency swung into action to find the boy.

Crocodile Helped With Rescue

Melkianus Kotta, head of the East Kalimantan Basarnas Search and Relief Office was quoted in a local report saying, “Around seven in the morning the team received information from the family that they saw a crocodile carrying a human body. It turned out that the body was the child we were looking for.”

Kotta confirmed that there were no bite marks on the boy’s body and added that the crocodile helped the team in their search for the missing boy.
