Odisha Health Minister Naba Kisohre Das Shot on Chest by Inspector At Event Video

On Sunday, Odisha health minister Naba Kishore Das was shot on chest by an assistant sub-inspector during an event with the video of the horrific assassination attempt caught on video. In the disturbing video, the Odisha-based minister can be seen trying to step outside his car with his security detail all around him, as he sits inside the car, shocked and horrified over the surprise bullet injury he sustained in moments.

As per the reports, the incident took place near Gandhi Chowk, Brajranjnagar when the health minister was scheduled ot attend an official event. The BJD leader was inside a car, when an assistant sub-inspector Gopal Das, who was posted at the Gandhi Chowk outpost, opened fire at him. The accused cop’s actions still remain unclear.

Gupteswar Bhoi, sub-divisional police officer (Brajrajnagar), was quoted in an Indian Express report saying, “We have taken the ASI into custody. He is currently being interrogated by the police. At this moment, I am not able to tell the exact reason as to why the police officer took such a step”.

Meanwhile, the health minister’s condition remains critical and he was rushed to the Jharsuguda airport where he was airlifted to Bhubaneswar. Following the assassination attempt, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik condemned the attack, and prayed for the health minister’s speedy recovery.

The Facts of the Matter

In 2021, Odisha’s health minister Naba Kishore Das was in the news for being one of the richest ministers in the state cabinet’s government, with 80 vehicles worth Rs 24.69 crores at his name.

On Sunday, Naba was again in the news, this time for being a victim of a shocking assassination attempt. The veteran BJD leader was shot critically on Sunday by an assistant sub-inspector of the state government.

According to reports, Odisha health and family welfare minister Naba Kishore Das was scheduled to attend an event in Jharsuguda district’s Brajrajnagar on Sunday. The health minister stepped out of his vehicle, sometime around 12.15 pm, when he was shot by a man, an action that prompted a ruckus at the scene.

The moment when Das was shot was also caught on camera, visuals of which, are going viral.

What Does the Video Show (Discretion Advised):

In the video going viral, Das can be seen stepping out of his vehicle as his security detail try to make sure any untoward incident is averted. Out of nowhere, the minister his shot with multiple rounds of bullets which het the left side of his chest. The minister can be seen collapsing on the seat of the car and the bystanders run around in panic.

Health Minister Under Supervision of Team of Specialists

Reportedly, the BJD minister was airlifted to Bhubaneswar from Jharsuguda and a team of medical specialists were rushed to his assistance. From Bhubaneswar airport, he was rushed to the Apollo Hospital where a team of specialists have been conducting an operation on him. His condition is reported to be critical. As per reports, the minister has been receiving treatment from specialists from Apollo Hospital, SCB MCH, and Capital Hospital.

Accused A Cop, Motive Unclear

As per the reports, the accused ASI who opened fire at the health minister was identified as Gopal Das. The accused was posted at the Gandhi Chowk outpost when he shot the minister critically. The accused was taken immediately into a custody, and has been under sustained interrogation. At the moment, the motive of his actions remains unclear.
