Mumbai Man Loses Leg Days After Engagement While Boarding Running Train, Station Master Saves Life | Video
A Mumbai-based man lost his leg only days after his engagement as he tried boarding a running train. However, the mishap could have been worse, as the station master’s quick thinking and action saved the man’s life. The entire incident was caught on camera, visuals of which are going viral. Despite the gravity of the incident, the station master made sure that the victim managed to get into an ambulance within six minutes of the chain being pulled.
It was supposed to be a joyous occasion for 26-year-old Ajay Singh, who had just returned from his engagement in Amritsar, but fate had other plans.
As he attempted to board a running local train at platform number two of Kandivali station on Wednesday night, he lost his balance and slipped into the gap between the footboard and platform. The incident was recorded on CCTV camera, showing the horrifying moment that changed Ajay’s life forever.
Ajay’s left leg was badly injured, but his right leg suffered the most damage, getting crushed under the train, which forced the doctors to amputate it at the knee. His friends, who were with him, were quick to inform the station master, who immediately sprang into action, rushing Ajay to the nearest hospital in less than 30 minutes.

On a seemingly ordinary Wednesday evening, tragedy struck at Kandivali station as a young man lost his leg while attempting to board a running local train. The horrifying incident, captured on CCTV camera, has left commuters shaken and authorities urging locals to be careful and conscious while boarding and deboarding trains.
Victim had Returned from Engagement
The victim, Ajay Singh, had just returned to Mumbai from his engagement ceremony in Amritsar. He worked for a catering firm in Sion and was travelling with his friends Joban Jeet Singh and Manjal Singh. They had boarded a local train from Borivali, and when it stopped at Kandivali, Ajay stepped off to purchase a bottle of water.

As Ajay attempted to re-board the train, he lost his footing and fell into the gap between the footboard and platform. He was dragged along by the train, his right leg severed at the knee and his left leg badly injured. Station Master’s Heroic Act
In a heroic act, the Kandivli railway station master, Ashfaque Shaikh, along with a sweeper and a woman GRP constable, sprang into action upon witnessing the tragic incident. They quickly carried the severely injured Ajay Singh on a stretcher from platform 2 to 1, using a foot overbridge to bypass the crowd. With
promptness being crucial, they rushed him to the nearby Shatabdi hospital, where doctors immediately provided emergency treatment. Singh was then referred to JJ hospital to treat his left leg, which was badly injured at the thigh.

“Not easy task..”: Doctors Give Info
Doctors did everything in their power to save his left leg, but the extent of the injury was too severe.
“His right leg was cut at the knee and his left leg was also injured badly. We are trying our best to save at least one leg, but it’s not an easy task,” a doctor was quoted saying.
Meanwhile, a Western Railway Police official was quoted in a Free Press report saying, “We tried our best and sent him to the nearest hospital in less than 30 minutes, but both his legs were severely injured. In fact, the right leg was crushed, hence the doctors decided to amputate at the knee. The left leg is also crushed but partially attached.”
