Kerala Horror – Man Sentenced to Three Life Terms for Raping and Impregnating Minor Daughter
In Kerala, a man was given three consecutive life sentences for raping and impregnating his daughter, who was 15-year-old when she was subjected to the horror. According to reports, the Manjeri Fast Track Special Court judge convicted the man from multiple charges of rape, sexual assault and intimidation under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He has also been slapped a fine of Rs 6.6 lakhs.
According to reports, the incident of rape took place earlier in March 2021 when the 15-year-old girl was taking online classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was when her father dragged her into her bedroom and raped her in the absence of no other family member at home. The man also threatened to kill the daughter if she informed her mother.
The accused, a teacher in a madrasa, went on to rape his minor daughter repeatedly on several occasions till October of the same year. When the survivor started going back to school, she was rushed to the doctor for abdominal pain.
In 2022, she again complained of the pain, and was found to be pregnant. She then reported that her father had been raping her, and a case was filed and the father was arrested.
The Facts of the Matter
As per the Kerala police department’s data, the state has been witnessing a significant increase in the number of sexual crimes against children. The number registered in 2019 was 3,609 which dropped to 3,019, owing to the COVID-19 lockdown and restrictions. However, the number saw a sharp rise back to 3,549 POCSO cases.
Meanwhile, many incidents that took place during the COVID-19 lockdown are now surfacing, shedding light on the damning and damaging effect it had for the vulnerable and marginalised.

Fast Track Court Convicts Rapist Father
In one such incident, a father in Kerala repeatedly raped his daughter several times in March 2021 during the COVID-19 induced lockdown, and was recently sentenced three-life sentences for the remainder of his life.
The judgement was given by a Manjeri Fast Track Special Court where the accused was convicted of rape, sexual assault, and intimidation of the survivor. The accused was booked under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The accused has also been slapped with a fine of Rs 6.6 lakhs

Survivor was Taking Online Classes when She was Raped
Shedding more light on the case, SSP told media that the first incident of the rape endured by the then 15-year-old survivor took place in March 2021. The survivor was having online classes due to the lockdown and was studying when her father dragged her to his bedroom, and raped her. He also threatened the girl of killing her mother when she objected.
The accused, a madrasa teacher, went on to rape his daughter on several occasions subsequently till October 2021. In November 2021, the survivor’s physical classes started and she went to school. On one occasion, she developed severe abdominal pain and was rushed to the doctor, but nothing was discovered.
The Horrific Revelation & Arrest
However, the survivor again complained of severe pain in January 2022, and was rushed to a nearby government hospital. During that particular hospital visit, the girl discovered that she was pregnant, and told the authorities that her father was the accused.
Soon, the police were informed, and the accused father was arrested based on a case filed by the police.

DNA Confirms Father Being the Perpetrator
To confirm that the father was the accused, DNA samples of the medically terminated foetus was taken along with the girl’s DNA and the father’s DNA.
The DNA analysis confirmed the girl’s version of the events and the father was found to be guilty of raping and impregnating his daughter.
Based on the DNA evidence and the statements of the survivor and her mother, the accused was convicted. A speedy trial was conducted to make sure the survivor and witnesses did not get influenced or terrorized by the accused.
