Urban air charter Fly Blade India is promising no more traffic woes for people traveling in Bengaluru by offering a helicopter taxi. The company has also released initial fare details for the helicopter taxi aimed to give travelers a chance to beat the infamous Bengaluru traffic.
Fly Blate India, a private charter, is going to buy Airbus H125 helicopters, as per senior company officials of the company. Initially, the service will be provided on weekdays with tickets priced at Rs 3,250 and the service will be available from Bengaluru International Airport and HAL
“Fliers can now skip the painful 120-minute commute in traffic and opt for a quick 15-minute flight instead. Whitefield and Electronic City will be added subsequently,” a statement from the company read.
News agency IANS quoted Blade India MD Amit Dutta saying, “A wholly owned subsidiary in Gujarat’s Gift City has placed orders for a couple of helicopters with Airbus. The helicopters will have a seating capacity of five to six people. The first helicopter is expected to be delivered by this October and November.”
The helicopter flights will be twice per day. One flight will be scheduled at 9 am from Bengaluru Airport to HAL, and evening return flight will be scheduled on the same route at 4.15 pm.
The Facts of the Matter
There’s little that’s not been said about the Bengaluru traffic. From exaggerated jokes, to memes, to expletive ridden rants, netizens have gone lengths to address the city’s traffic woes. To give travelers in Bengaluru a chance to beat traffic, private charter Fly Blade India recently announced its helicopter taxi service.
Fleet of Airbus H125 Helicopters
Initially, the helicopters will be picking up travelers from Bengaluru Airport to HAL. Whitefield and Electronic City, two of the most frequented hubs in city, will be added subsequently. In its statement, the company announced that it will be buying Airbus H125 helicopters.
“A wholly owned subsidiary in Gujarat’s Gift City has placed orders for a couple of helicopters with Airbus. The helicopters will have a seating capacity of five to six people. The first helicopter is expected to be delivered by this October and November,” news agency IANS quoted Amit Dutta, managing director of Fly Blade India.
Two Flights Every Weekday
For now, the company is planning to operate on five days a week (every weekday), two flights per day. The first flight is planned to fly 9 am from the Bengaluru airport to HAL, and the second flight will fly from 4.15 pm on the same route. HAL for the unversed, is relatively closer to Indiranagar, Koramangala and some IT parks.
More routes will be added from Whitefield and Electronic City.
Fare Details, Comparison to Road Trip Fare
By taking the above-mentioned route, travelers will be able to spend minutes, and even hours that would otherwise be wasted on congested routes. For now, the service is priced at Rs 3,250 per person, per flight.
The price may sound hefty at first, however, it should be noted that a road trip between the Bengaluru Airport to HAL costs somewhere over Rs. 1,300 and takes over two hours. The two hours may get reduced to merely 12 minutes with the help of air taxi.
If you’re traveling to Bengaluru and are already dreading the infamous traffic, this service may just be for you. However, waiting may not serve you well. The service is already open for bookings from Fly Blade India’s website.
