Delhi: 45-Year-Old Abducts Baby Girl to Raise her, Kills her after Having Second Thoughts
In Delhi, a 45-year-old man abducted a baby girl to raise her like his own daughter, and ended up killing her when he had second thoughts about his plan. The incident was reported from Delhi’s Bawana and occurred earlier on Monday. The accused in the matter was identified as Sunil, a resident of Etah, Uttar Pradesh.
The accused in the matter is a semi-skilled labourer according to a TOI report, and is unmarried. After his arrest and the confession that followed, the police booked him under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including sections pertaining to murder and kidnapping.
The matter came to the fore after the police received a call about a 3-month-old baby girl being missing. Soon, a ragpicker found the girl’s body in a drain. An investigation was soon kicked off, and CCTV footage in the area showed the accused kidnapping the girl.
Thanks to digital evidence and physical investigation, the police were able to identify the accuse and arrest him. During questioning, the accused confessed that he wanted to raise a baby and hence, kidnapped the baby girl.
However, when he had second thoughts about the matter, he murdered her and dumped her in the drain. While post-mortem report is still awaited, the police are speculating that the girl was drowned by the accused.
The Facts of the Matter
In the national capital, a 45-year-old man committing a horrific crime after having “second thoughts” on his initial plan of raising a baby girl he originally abducted. The accused man murdered the 3-month-old baby girl and dumped it in a drain, only to be arrested later and confessing to the horrific crime.
The incident was reported from Delhi’s Bawana and the accused was identified as Sunil. A semi-skilled labourer, Sunil is employed at a hosiery factory and is unmarried, living on his own in his locality.
The incident was brought to the notice of authorities after receiving a call of a 3-month-old girl getting missing. Later, the missing girl’s corpse was found in a drain.

Baby was with Family Before Getting Kidnapped
According to DCP Brijendra Kumar Yadav, the 3-month-old girl was sleeping with her mother and sister in a small shanty earlier on Sunday night. At around 2 AM on Monday morning, the girl’s mother was startled after she couldn’t locate her child.
Ragpicker Found Girl in Drain
Soon the girl’s family members and friends started looking for the baby. On the same morning, at around 5.30 AM, a rag picker informed the missing girl’s mother that her child was lying in a drain. The family soon rushed to the spot and found the daughter to have already died. The spot was some 150-200 meters away from the shanty.

CCTV Footage Analyzed, Accused Identified
The police began probe in the matter and during investigation of CCTV, found Sunil to have entered the Shanty and kidnapped the 3-month-old child. The accused was soon arrested, and during questioning, gave horrific account of what truly transpired after he abducted the child.

Accused Wanted to Raise Child, had Second Thoughts
In his testimony, the accused admitted that he wanted to raise a baby and hence, kidnapped the girl child. However, he soon started having second thoughts about his actions. Terrified of what would happen if he would get caught, he decided to throw the baby in the drain.
According to a TOI report, the post-mortem report of the deceased child is awaited. However, the presence of mud and water in the cavities indicate that the girl may have drowned to death.
