Maharashtra: Mother Murders 6 Children by Throwing Them into Well Over Family Dispute
In a horrific incident reported from Maharashtra, a mother murdered 6 children by throwing them into a well over a family dispute. The six children included five girls and one boy. The incident was reported from Maharashtra’s Raigad district and occurred earlier on Monday at at Kharavali village. The village is located about 100 km from Mumbai, according to an NDTV report. Reportedly, all deceased children were aged below 10 years. The accused woman has been identified as Runa Sahani a native of Uttar Pradesh. Runa is married to a mason.
Earlier on Monday afternoon, Runa Sahani threw her six kids – five daughters and one son – into a well over a family dispute. Following the gruesome crime, the woman then took to the Mahad MIDC police station. At the station, Sahani alleged that her six children are missing. The police filed a missing persons complaint based on the allegations.
The police questioned the Sahani and initiated a probe into the matter. Following the investigation and questioning, the police unearthed a startling revelation. The police found out that the woman had herself killed her children.
Earlier in April 2022, a similar incident was reported from Gujarat where a woman threw her two kids into a well and was later found hanging from a tree.
The Facts of the Matter
A heartbreaking incident was reported from Maharashtra’s Raigad district where a mother took the lives of her six children following a family dispute. Earlier on Monday, 30-year-old woman killed her five sons and one daughter by throwing them into the well. The accused woman, identified as Runa Sahani, took the lives of her children, aged between barely 18 months and 10 years.
Woman was Beaten Up by Husband’s Family
According to reports, 30-year-old Runa Sahani is a native of Uttar Pradesh and is married to a Mason. Sahani took the grave step earlier on Monday afternoon at Kharavali village, about 100 km from Mumbai. The accused took the tragic step after she was beaten up by her husband’s family members.
Mother Complains Children Going Missing, Probe Kicks Off
Following committing the grave crime, the woman took to the police station and complained that she was unable to find her children. The police filed a complaint as per the woman’s claim and initiated a probe in the matter.

Police Discover Truth, Woman Likely to Be Arrested
After questioning the woman and investigating the matter, the authorities were able to find the startling truth of the woman taking the lives of her own children. So far, no arrests have been made in the matter. The Mahad MIDC police station has filed a case of accidental death and as per an Indian Express report, they are likely to book and arrest Sahani for the murder of her own children.

Similar Incident Occurred in Gujarat This Year
Earlier on April 14, 2022 in Gujarat, a similar startling incident was reported where a mother took the lives of her two children by throwing them into the well and was later found hanging from a tree. The incident was reported from Dahod taluka’s Kharoda village. The deceased woman was identified as Kali Bhabhor and had five children with her husband Arvind Bhabhor. The five children were aged between 13 years and 6 years.
On the day of, the woman killed her daughter Aarti (6) and her son Vajesing (10) and hung herself from a tree. The cause of the shocking step the woman took was not reported.
