Shubman Gill Asks Elon Musk to Buy Swiggy for On Time Delivery, Gets Brutally Trolled by Fake Swiggy Account

Cricketer Shubman Gill was recently trying to be funny on Twitter, but ended up being brutally trolled instead. Gill tagged billionaire Elon Musk to buy swiggy so that the delivery platform can make on time deliveries. While the real account of Swiggy didn’t react to the tweet, a fake account of the food delivery start-up gave a troll-like reply to Gill on the tweet. Following the interaction, many netizens asked Swiggy to take note of the fake account.

It so happened that the Gujarat Titans batter took to Twitter and tweeted – “Elon musk, please buy swiggy so they can deliver on time”, tagging Elon Musk and giving the tweet a hashtag ‘#swiggy’. While many netizens started reacting to the tweet in their own way, things escalated when a fake account with Swiggy’s display picture replied with a brutal troll-like reply.

“We are still faster than your batting in T20 cricket”, the simple yet critical tweet by the fake swiggy account read.

The small interaction between the Indian batter and the fake delivery app happened just days after Elon Musk bought Twitter. Following the deal, social media was flooded by jokes about Elon Musk buying random companies.

Elon himself added fuel to the fire when he tweeted, “Next I’m buying Coca-Cola to put the cocaine back in”.

The Facts of the Matter

In the race of one like, one retweet, one comment, and slowly inching towards getting viral, people often make jokes about topical incidents to garner traction on social media. While some among millions get lucky and receive tonnes of traction, other tweets and posts by people get buried under the weight of several similar posts and tweets.

Shubman Gill Joins Bandwagon

Recently, Indian batter Shubman Gill took to Twitter to jump the bandwagon of the ongoing Elon Musk-Twitter buyout row. Like countless people, the Gujarat Titans batter decided to make a reference about the Twitter buyout and decided to throw food delivery platform Swiggy under the bus.

Taking to Twitter, the 22-year-old batter tweeted, “Elon musk, please buy swiggy so they can deliver on time”. He also tagged Elon Musk in the tweet.

Gill was obviously making a refence to Elon Musk buying Twitter for $44 billion. The richest man of the planet opened a floodgate of memes and jokes about going on a shopping spree and buying random companies.

Meanwhile, Musk after buying Twitter joked that he will buy Coca-Cola next to “put cocaine back in”, a reference to cocaine being the original ingredient in the soft-drink.

“Faster than Your Batting”: Fake Swiggy Account Replies

Coming back to Shubman Gill and his request to Elon Musk. After the batter randomly jumped the bandwagon, a fake account of Swiggy, which had similar display picture as Swiggy trolled the batter with a reply that read – “We are still faster than your batting in T20 cricket”.

Many netizens shared hilarious memes as a reaction to the fake Swiggy account’s brutal trolling.

“No right”: Emotionally Charged Netizen Calls Out Fake Account

Meanwhile, a Twitter account called out the fake account for “having no right” to tweet something of that sort.

“You guys don’t have any right to talk with this manner this with a Indian cricketer,” the Twitter user wrote.

“Faster than any acquisition” Real Swiggy Account Replies

Meanwhile, the real Swiggy cares account came up with a hilarious response to Gill’s request and tweeted saying his problem will be resolved “quicker than any acquisition”.

“Hi Shubman Gill. Twitter or no Twitter, we just want to make sure all is well with your orders (that is if you’re ordering). Meet us in DM with your details, we’ll jump on it quicker than any acquisition :)” the tweet read.
