‘Didn’t Know Jiju Story Will Blow Up’ Twitter User Cooks Up Story to Get Reaction from Tata Motor

A Twitter user recently made up a story to get a reaction out of Tata Motors and then had to come clean. “Didn’t Know Jju Story Will Blow Up”, the netizen revealed, adding that it was a parody account.

For the unversed, a Twitter user expressed his frustration over Tata Nexon not getting delivered by a car dealer in Lakhimpur, Uttar Pradesh. To add more spice to his fake story, the Twitter user added – “My sister’s marriage is at stake. My jiju is angry and threatening to call off marriage.”

The netizen’s tweet also irked many netizens who considered the car to be meant for dowry and many netizens asked Tata Motors to not carry with the delivery and some netizens even asked the man to ‘find a new jiju’

Like the Twitter handle of most consumer-centric business, Tata Motors took to Twitter and said – “Hi, we never want our customers to have such an experience with us. Please share your contact details via DM so that our team can connect with you to assist further.”

Later the man revealed that he lied about the story and the only truth in his false tweet was the fact that he had booked a Tata Nexon.

The Facts of the Matter

In the current age of fake news and misinformation, it’s difficult to sift the true from the false. This is especially true for social media users who want to garner attention and spread all kinds of false rumours to get a reaction. A similar incident happened recently when a Twitter user tried to get attention and reaction out of vehicle manufacturing giant Tata Motors by flouting a fake story.

#Jiju Hashtag Trends on Twitter

Earlier on Thursday, Twitter hashtags had a strange hashtag in the trending section. “#Jiju” was trending for hours earlier on Thursday due to an interaction between a Twitter user and Tata Motors. The Twitter user expressed his frustration on not receiving a Tata Nexon.

“Sister’s Marriage at Stake”: Man Cooks up Fake Story

@TamrajKillWish took to Twitter and tweeted – “Booked Tata Nexon on 25th Feb from Rana Motors (Lakhimpur), I was assured of vehicle delivery by 12 April. It’s more than 2 mnths now & dealer has no idea on delivery date”.

He further added – “My sister’s marriage is at stake, My jiju is angry and threatening to call off marriage”.

Tata Motors Responds

Tata Motors promptly responded to the man’s tweet and responded  – “Hi, we never want our customers to have such an experience with us. Please share your contact details via DM, so that our team can connect with you to assist further.”

Netizens Consider Tata Car to Be Meant as Dowry, React

The man’s garnered a lot of attention from netizens who considered the car to be meant as a dowry. Many netizens asked Tata Motors to not deliver the car. One Twitter user went as far as saying the man should find a new jiju (brother-in-law).

Twitter User Comes Clean on Creating Fake Story, Account & Tweets Deleted

After garnering all the attention and reaction from netizens and the car manufacturer himself, the Twitter user came clean and said – “Guys I’m sorry but I didn’t know that my Jiju story will blow up to this level. I’m a parody account and I keep posting these sh*t. That was not real.”

He further added, “Only real thing is that I had booked the car and it is delayed. That’s all.”

It should be noted that the tweets and the Twitter account of the man himself, now stand deleted.
