Drunk Swede Passenger Molests IndiGo Crew Member Mid-Flight, 8th Case of Unruly Passenger in 3 Months
In another mid-flight horror incident, a Swede passenger allegedly molested an IndiGo crew member midflight, making the entire ordeal, the 8th such case of an unruly passenger creating a rucks in the plane in the last three months. The most recent incident took place during an IndiGo flight flying from Bangkok to Mumbai where a drunk Swedish passenger, identified as Klas Erik Harald Jonas Westberg, hurled abuses at her and molested her.
The incident occurred when meals were being served, and the passenger began to misbehave. The 24-year-old cabin crew member alerted the captain and read out a red warning card to Westberg, but his unruly behavior continued until the flight landed.
In the complaint, the crew member stated that the passenger held her hand on the pretext of swiping his ATM card and then molested her in front of other passengers. Westberg also assaulted another passenger who confronted him.
Upon landing, Westberg was handed over to the police and later released on payment of Rs 20,000 bail surety by the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate Court. The Sahar police have filed a four-page chargesheet using the accounts of three witnesses, all of whom were cabin crew members.
This incident is the latest in a series of incidents of unruly behavior on airplanes, and it highlights the need of maintaining sobriety during air travel.
The Facts of the Matter
The skies used to be a place of calm and serenity, but in recent times, the behavior of some passengers has become a growing concern. Unruly passengers, often under the influence of alcohol, have created ruckus mid-flight, causing discomfort and distress to fellow passengers and cabin crew members.
From the Air India pee-gate, to the IndiGo crew-passenger verbal spat caught on cam, the skies are no more peaceful, and mid-flight horrors are becoming concerningly common. In one such incident, a Swedish national was arrested for allegedly molesting an IndiGo passenger mid-flight.
Swede National Was Drunk During Flight
Klas Erik Harald Jonas Westberg, a 63-year-old Swedish national, was reportedly intoxicated when the incident occurred. The cabin crew member alerted the captain after Westberg’s run-ins with the crew continued, and the passenger was read a red warning card.
The situation escalated when Westberg allegedly held the crew member’s hand while attempting to pay for his chicken meal with an ATM card, and then molested her in front of other passengers.

Crew Member Recalls Horrors She was Subjected To
The cabin crew member who was molested narrated the incident in her complaint, stating that the problem began when she informed Westberg that there was no seafood onboard. She then served him chicken meals and asked for his ATM card to make a payment through the POS machine. When Westberg held her hand on the pretext of swiping the card, she pulled it back and asked him to enter the card PIN.
However, allegedly Westberg went on to molest her in front of other passengers when she raised an alarm about his misbehaviour. The situation only calmed down when Westberg returned to his seat after being confronted by other crew members.

Accused Continued to Raise Havoc
Throughout the four-hour-long flight, Westberg kept hurling abuses and profanities, creating a tense environment. Another passenger seated next to him tried to confront him, but Westberg assaulted him too. It wasn’t until the flight landed that IndiGo security officers and CISF officials were informed and Westberg was handed over to the police.
