In a shocking development, a Dehradun-based YouTuber, identified as Lata Adhikari, killed herself over less YouTube channel subscribers. In the aftermath, the police have initiated a probe in the matter, and added that the exact cause of the woman taking the grave step is yet to be ascertained. The incident was reported from Dehradun’s Patel Nagar area.
The life of a young woman has been tragically cut short in Dehradun’s Patel Nagar area. Lata Adhikari, a 22-year-old aspiring singer, allegedly took her own life in her home over the weekend. The reason behind her decision? Her apparent failure to increase the number of subscribers on her YouTube channel.
Lata had been running a channel called ‘Phoenix Records’ for over a year, where she would upload her own Garhwali and Kumaoni songs. Despite having 15 videos on her channel, and over 1,200 subscribers, Lata was reportedly disappointed with the channel’s growth. Her family members had recently found her hanging from a rope inside her room, and immediately informed the police.
A TOI report quoted Sub-Inspector Sanjit Kumar, who is currently investigating the case, “A few days ago, there was a discussion between Lata and her parents on her career goals. They asked her if she wanted to pursue higher studies or focus on growing her channel. She was disturbed after that and later took the drastic step.”

In Dehradun’s Patel Nagar area, a 22-year-old woman named Lata Adhikari allegedly took her own life on a Saturday afternoon. According to the police investigation, Lata was struggling to increase the number of subscribers on her YouTube channel, which she had named ‘Phoenix Records.’ She had started the channel in February of the previous year and had around 1,200 subscribers with 15 videos uploaded.

Channel’s Slow Growth Causes Frustration
Despite her efforts to grow her channel, Lata became increasingly frustrated with the lack of success and was deeply affected by the stagnant growth. Her family members also noted a significant change in her mood and behavior in the days leading up to the tragic incident.
On the day of the incident, Lata’s family made a shocking discovery when they found her hanging from a rope inside her room. They immediately informed the police, who arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. However, no suicide note was found in the room.

Sub-Inspector Sanjit Kumar, who is leading the investigation, revealed that Lata’s family members had disclosed her disappointment over the lack of subscribers on her channel. The family had also reportedly had a conversation with her about her career goals, where they had inquired if she wanted to pursue higher studies or focus on her YouTube channel.
