Storyline
R Madhavan portrays Nambi Narayanan, a scientist for the ISRO who was unfairly charged with handing Pakistan information about India’s cryogenic technology in 1994, in the film Rocketry. The falsification, as per Rocketry, not only shattered Narayanan’s life but also stalled the Indian space development by several years.
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect Review: Script Analysis
The first part of the film, which was improperly structured and scripted by Madhavan, also had a lot of complex and lengthy technical jargon that makes it appear like a physics lecture. The movie also adds a number of time jumps and has a back-and-forth shift, which can be puzzling for many. It seems Madhavan’s course doesn’t have a predetermined outline or road plan.
Despite being slower and more emotionally exhausting, the second half is considerably stronger. The attempt to portray Nambi Narayanan as the origin of all magnificent developments that occurred in ISRO in the 1970s and 1980s throws the picture off-balance.
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect Review: Star Performance
In order to build Rocketry, R. Madhavan has gone above his comfort bubble, and there is no chance that he could have permitted anything to go amiss, in particular from his side. Simran, who portrays Nambi’s wife Meena in the supporting cast, has an impact in the short passages that we see of her. Then, among others, Bhawsheel as Sartaj, Mohan as Unni, Rajeev Ravindranathan as Param, and Karthik Kumar as the CBI lead investigator PM Nayar bring richness to the narrative.
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect Review: Direction & Music
As a director, Madhavan chooses to spend less time on information that is already known by the viewer. He makes shrewd use of Shah Rukh Khan to achieve this. He forces him to recount well-known events while making sure it doesn’t sound careless.
The mood is masterfully captured in the cinematography by Sirisha Ray. The background score for Sam is appropriate. In terms of editing, Bijit Bala could have done a better job. For a first-time director, Madhavan does a fine job with the dialogue and direction. The music is expressive. However, it also has a few unnecessary portions. Behne Do is certainly set out in a fashion to stirring up emotion, and it does it effectively.
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect gives you a deeper understanding of your country and shares the untold tale of people who sacrificed a lot for their country.
