Tamil Nadu POCSO Accused Man Stabs Minor Girl 14 Times for Rejecting Proposal, Ends Life Later

In Tamil Nadu, a POCSO accused man stabbed a minor girl as many as 14 times for rejecting his love proposal, only to end his own life later. The 23-year-old accused was out on bail after being charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after he allegedly kidnapped a minor girl earlier in June 2021.

On Tuesday, the accused stabbed a 16-year-old minor girl as many as 14 times and ended up taking his own life after he got to know that the police were on a look out for him. The victim of the gruesome assault is currently recovering at the hospital and is in stable condition. The accused has been identified as Kesavan.

Earlier on Tuesday evening, the victim – an 11th class student, left her own house, telling her family that she was going to visit her grandmother. On her way, the accused ambushed her and soon, an argument broke out between the duo near a railway station.

The argument escalated to such a point that the accused stabbed the victim multiple times before he fled the spot. The victim survived multiple critical injuries to her hip, neck and hands. She fell unconscious on the road and was rushed to the hospital soon.

The Facts of the Matter

A 16-year-old girl recently became the victim of a gruesome stabbing after she rejected the proposal of a man. The incident was reported from Tamil Nadu’s Manapparai and occurred earlier on Tuesday. According to reports, the girl was stabbed by a 23-year-old man, who was already a POCSO accused. The accused took his own life after committing the heinous crime.

Accused had Intercepted the Victim Near Railway Overbridge

Earlier on Tuesday, the victim – an 11th class student from Manapparai’sAtikulam, had left her home after telling her parents that she is out to visit her grandmother. The victim was intercepted by the accused near a railway overbridge of Manapparai. This was when the duo got involved in an argument which escalated to a point of no return.

Victim Stabbed 14 Times Around Neck, Hands, Hip

On having his proposal being rejected by the victim, the accused reportedly attacked her with a sharp object as many as 14 times. The 16-year-old vitim received critical injuries all over her body – including her hands, hip and neck.

Accused was a POCSO Offender

Reportedly, the accused was a resident of Pothamettupatti and had tried to marry the victim earlier last year. He was arrested the same year under the POCSO Act for the kidnapping of a minor and other relevant offence.

Recently, the accused was released from the prison on bail and reportedly stabbed the victim as an act of revenge for being rejected. Reportedly, the victim was seen in the pool of her own blood and was rushed to the hospital soon. The accused had meanwhile fled the scene of crime.

Police Finds Accused’s Body

After registering complaint regarding the matter, the police initiated a probe and three teams were constituted to nab him. Before the police teams could reach to him, the victim was found dead on a railway track on the same night as the incident.

Congress MP Condemns the Incident

Following the incident, Karur Congress MP Jothimani took to Twitter and expressed her shock on receiving the details about the incident. She also informed the public of having already spoken to the DSP involved in the matter, who informed about the three special teams formed to nab the now dead accused.

The Congress MP Jothimani’s tweet read – “We are upset every time such atrocities occur, but we get over it. Such crimes only raise from the notion that a woman is simply a body who should agree with a man with no self-conscience. Such rampant mindset in the society must be changed through education along with harsher punishments.”
