24-Year-Old Kshama Bindu from Vadodara Set to Marry Herself in Rare ‘Sologamy’, Calls it ‘Act of Self-Acceptance’

In a rare development, 24-year-old Kshama Bindu from Vadodara is set to marry herself in a rare sologamy or self-marriage. The 24-year-old has called the act an act of ‘self-acceptance. In her interview to TOI, Kshama explained that she never wanted to get married, but wanted to be a bride. To do both, she has decided to get married to herself and her D-Day is on June 11.
In her interview, Kshama explained the strange and rare marriage. “Self-marriage is a commitment to be there for yourself and unconditional love for oneself. It’s also an act of self-acceptance. People marry someone they love. I love myself and hence this wedding,” she explained. Kshama Bindu is a resident of Vadodara, Gujarat, and works in a private company.
With her sologamy, Bindu wants to portray that women matter. Like most Indian brides, Kshama will be dressed in a traditional wedding attire, will be seeking blessings from her parents at a temple, and will also tie herself to five-vows she has written for herself. All that will be missing is a groom, and a groom-party (baraati).
To indulge in a complete wedding experience, Bindu is also scheduled for a two-week honeymoon with herself. She will be visiting Goa for her honeymoon.

What is Sologamy?
Come 9 years later and a woman in Gujarat is not only planning to go on a honeymoon with herself, but marry herself as well. The rare act of marrying oneself is called ‘sologamy’.
According to an Insider report, Sologamy isn’t a legally binding act. One doesn’t get to register themselves and they can also marry someone else in future without necessarily divorcing themselves.
Meet 24-Year-Old Kshama Bindu
24-year-old Kshama Bindu is a resident of Vadodara, Gujarat and works in a private company. On June 11, she is all set to get married. The marriage will have the usual ingredients of any Indian marriage, including dressing up in wedding outfits, doing rituals, and more. The only thing that will be missing in this marriage is a groom himself, and a groom-party (baraati).
“Never Wanted Marriage, Wanted to Be a Bride”
In her interview to TOI, Kshama explained the reasoning behind getting married to herself. “I never wanted to get married. But I did want to become a bride. So I decided to marry myself”. She also added that after doing a lot of research online, she realized that she will be the first woman in India to set an example of self-love.
Bindu’s Idea Behind Marrying Self
“Self-marriage is a commitment to be there for yourself and unconditional love for oneself. It’s also an act of self-acceptance. People marry someone they love. I love myself and hence this wedding,” she was quoted in a TOI report.
Bindu explained that her main motive behind marrying herself is to portray that women matter.

Parents Supportive, Goa Honeymoon Planned
She mentioned that her parents are supportive of her marriage with herself and have also given her their blessings to get married at a temple in Vadodara’s Gotri. She has also written five vows for herself as an expression of self-love.
Moreover, to complete her wedding, she is also going to go for a two-week honeymoon in Goa.
